June 17th, the NPSTC Governing Board met in an open session via teleconference.  The Board welcomed a new Associate Member: PSBN Innovation Alliance (PIA).  The PIA did an excellent introductory presentation explaining their mission to develop a nationwide public safety broadband network in Canada.  They are an excellent fit for NPSTC activities.

Safer Buildings Coalition (SBC) No Noise Task Force Status
Provided an update of their current activities and future. David Furth, Deputy Chief Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau from the Federal Communications Commission gave an update on the regulatory issues impacting public safety.  In addition, Umair Javed, Acting Chief Counsel in the FCC Chairwoman’s office provided and introduction and update on current items and was warmly thanked by NPSTC Chairman Ralph Haller for his transparency and openness with the community regarding issues of interest.
Marcus Anderson and Scott Glazer representing the Global Public Safety Communications (GPSC) office, under the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), provided an introduction and requested to join NPSTC as a liaison organization.  The GPSC is working to create relationships with state and local public safety and NPSTC will be a good fit for them also.
