This session will explore the evolving use of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), better known as drones, and their ability to provide data directly to the PSAP for situational awareness and decision making. An overview will be provided on the use of DHS Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology to aggregate and analyze data streams flowing into the PSAP.

This session will focus on recent changes to FCC rules, which impact the use of encryption by law enforcement and other first responder agencies. Frequencies in all spectrum bands (VHF, UHF, 700, and 800 MHz) have been affected. Two recent decisions by the FCC will be reviewed in addition to discussion on the specific frequencies that allow or prohibit digital encryption.
