SAFECOM Members:
The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) is pleased to announce publication of the Statement of Project 25 User Needs (SPUN) document highlighting user needs and P25 functionality from the perspective of veteran P25 users.
P25 land mobile radio (LMR) systems used by public safety agencies are complex, and users need to know how to use them efficiently before emergency situations occur.  Lack of understanding of or practice on an LMR system can hinder communications during a crisis, but with a clear explanation of P25 concepts, capabilities and features, emergency personnel and government leaders can be fully prepared.
The SPUN provides those explanations and translates the more than 70 P25 standards into layperson's terms and practical guidance.  And it goes beyond simply explaining P25 and tells public safety officials how they can contribute to development of the standards and make them even more useful for their own applications.
For more information and to access the SPUN, visit the SAFECOM blog.  For questions regarding the SPUN, please email PublicSafetyComms@cisa.dhs.gov.
