The Hertz Award was created to recognize the exceptional work of one or more individuals who have demonstrated extraordinary leadership.  The Hertz award, named in honor of Heinrich Hertz whose name denotes the scientific unit of frequency – cycles per second – is not an annual award, but one that is only awarded when exceptional performance warrants it.
